The brief for this project focused on simplicity, serenity, and sophistication. The colour palette celebrates ‘neutrality’ to showcase the quality of the material and other choices. Read on for more details on these three beautiful bathrooms.

The brief for this property focused on keeping things simple and sophisticated. The sensuality is understated although evident to the naked eye, and for a naked body to experience.
Materials are carefully chosen for their ability to convey a balance of strength and softness, and to complement each other across three differently designed bathing spaces. The colour palette is intended to be unifying while retaining a distinct point of view for each space.
Important to maintaining a sense of serenity is that these typically smaller rooms in the house not feel cluttered. Plenty of storage has been discretely included in forms that free up the floor space – as a combination of floating vanity units and mirror fronted or concealed wall cabinets. Niches and shelves provide further scope for those items best found close to hand while bathing.
The tonality and tactility of the brassware has been carefully selected: to match the quality and functionality of the other fittings, to feel good in use, and to sit comfortably within the scheme of the home as a whole.
There are three bathrooms featured in this project. The colour and material palette is designed to be unifying while retaining a distinct point of view for each space.
Primary Bathroom
A primary bath and shower-room sits as the North Star of the trio, its generous garden window creating a focus around which all the rest is centred. The bath has an uninterrupted view of the outside while the simplicity of a sheer blind controls how daylight is filtered or a view is accessed. Taps, shower heads and controls are positioned for convenience and so as not to impact comfort in the bathtub – whichever end you choose to rest your head. The WC is semi-concealed behind a low wall that hides the working parts of the cistern and creates some perfectly positioned shelf space.
The symmetrical twin showers and vanities are individually separated by a decorative strip of naturally marked stone cladding and a trio of button-style, opalescent light fittings. The geometric stylings of this space combine squares with circles, juxtapose sharp lines with round edges, and bring definition via edge details to otherwise frameless glass.

Loft Bath and Shower
A bath and shower-room positioned in a loft, makes especially good use of the limits of its space with clever additions for lighting and storage.
Working with the contours of the ceiling, a compact bathtub tucks itself into a corner. Simple, rectangular, painted plaster light fittings dance above the bath, like musical notes, and direct the movement and placement of a pair of shelves that draw the eye upwards. At the opposite end of the room, a bespoke frameless shower screen is positioned full square and full height, to take full advantage of its position.
Storage is provided in the vanity unit and behind the semi hemispherical mirrored fronts of an overhead cabinet. The tap for the basin provides the ultimate in simple, sophisticated design, in the form of a single swan neck spout with control incorporated into its brushed brass stem.

Guest Shower-room
The third wheel to the trio is a guest shower room – staking a claim for some bolder choices while remaining in sync with the other two bathrooms.
Tile choice gives a non-frivolous background to this guest space. A bespoke frameless walk-in shower has brushed black chrome fittings, a discretely illuminated, contrasting tile storage niche with a carefully mitred frame. Storage is provided in the vanity unit, as with the other two bathrooms, only this time the mirror above the washbasin is flat to the wall, so as not to interrupt the view onto the backwall of the shower. A cupboard has instead been recessed into the space above the WC – which, in turn, keeps the wall profile flat, and gives space to drop an heavyweight industrial-style pendant lamp to illuminate both the mirror and the contents of the cupboard.
