For this Victorian home – undergoing a complete refurbishment – we were asked to create a kitchen that would serve dual purpose: on the one hand in daily use for a couple about to have a baby and, on the other, as a more occasional entertaining space equipped for a sense of the dramatic.

The colour scheme includes a blend of ‘Hague Blue’ and ‘Railings’, to create a bespoke deep blue-green colour for the main body of the kitchen, and grey-green ‘Castle Grey’ for the central island that divides one side of the room from the other.

Surfaces include backlit Onyx for the backsplash and riverwashed Heart Ash solid wood for a breakfast bar.

A Compact Kitchen

For a compact space, there’s a lot integrated into the furniture. The back run accommodates: fridge-freezer, pull out under counter spice store and separate bin, a dresser, full-size combination oven, and a dishwasher.

On the island: a Bora Pro hob provides induction and stainless steel tepan surfaces either side of its super efficient downdraft extractor system. Pan drawers sit below, with cutlery inserts, alongside a slim wine cooler and more storage space.

Copper Details

Copper finishes are included in the hardware, the sink, wall-mounted tap and deck-mounted control, the decorative light fittings, railings and in the traditional kitchen accessories used to style the space.

Fluted glass panels added to the doors of overhead cabinetry enable these to maintain a light touch while still being able to play a decorative game of conceal and reveal.

Decorative Lighting

There’s no need to think small in small space, playing with proportions can be a dramatic design decision. The oversized, domed light fitting over the island conceals a an over-scaled decorative plaster ‘ceiling’ that heightens the experience of cooking beneath it.

Sideboard

On the far side of the room, is a made to match slim sideboard with pull out drawers concealed behind its front panels.

Copper themed wall lights and matching bespoke colour for the furniture provide a coherent set of design choices to finish the room.

We collaborate with you to create a home that is unique.
