When we say that we design spaces ‘without walls’ we mean all of it – hallways, walls, doors, floors – you name it – if a space needs a total rethink, we are in our zone.

This Mansion block penthouse apartment involved a re-imagining of the entire space. We re-created walls, floors, furnishings and decorative lighting as part of a design that also included kitchen, dining and living area, four bedrooms, bathrooms, cloakroom, dressing areas, outdoor terraces, and entertainment spaces.

The kitchen is fitted with cabinetry from our DAY collection and finished with gold flecked Calacatta marble surfaces – a natural stone that has been used across the project.

For this project we were commissioned by a boutique developer and briefed to rethink every aspect of a Marylebone duplex penthouse space with unrestricted views across the rooftops of London.

The open kitchen, dining, and living area are sited at the entrance level, where there are also three bedrooms with associated bathrooms, a guest cloakroom, a small terrace, and an entrance hall. Herringbone wood floors were laid across the apartment, and doors, walls, and decorative lighting were included as part of our brief.

Kitchen cabinets include a run with ‘pocket’ doors to keep some of the working parts concealed when they are not needed, and fold back out of sight when they are in use. A dining table has been created as an extension of the island.

From the hallway, a uniquely crafted staircase – with integrated lighting that adjusts to prevailing light conditions – leads to the primary suite of bedroom, dressing area, cinema room, roof terrace, and Spa-like bathroom – with steam room, twin showers, marble vanity, fluted tile detailing, and a ‘Cup’ circular bathtub from REXA design with a very real ‘edge’ – in the form of a functional, integral, shelf.

A Calacatta Marble island with waterfall edges and space for stools to tuck under provides glamorous, sociable cooking space.

A kitchen sink drama in the form of a view, and a view into the cabinetry that houses V-Zug mirrored ovens, open shelves, and matching marble cladding to match the rest of the space.

Now you see it, now you don’t – pocket doors reveal or conceal what doesn’t always have to be on view.

The marble counter drops from standing height to table height as it moves from counter to dining, and from a generously wide working space to one dedicated to the art of the comensual.
