DAY Kitchen in Carbon | Carrara Marble Worktop and Waterfall Island | Bespoke Wardrobes | REXA Bathrooms

This project involved the redesign of a whole house – a kitchen, dining and utility space, cloakroom, six bedrooms with associated bathrooms and wardrobes.

The design across the whole home combines soft with sharp, horizontal with diagonal, angle with curve, and a subtly restricted monochrome colour palette, accented with a range of pinks and metallics.

Kitchen cabinetry is from our modular ‘Day’ range, with plain slab door fronts chosen as an intentionally simple backdrop for the stylish foreground details.

The strictly contemporary styling combines traditional, industrial and tactile detailing in the form of natural stone surfaces, beautifully engineered fittings, and the human connection inherent in the haptic and handcrafted.

Our images show daylight conditions and reflections – the effects of the decorative and task lighting as the light fades outside include warm gold-washing from the cute, cone-shaped wall sconces, soft opalescent light from two glass orbs suspended from the central statement fitting, and the ambient light filtered through its coloured glass finials.

Bathrooms include the privacy of several ensuites, a shared family bathroom with shower above the bath and full width storage space, and a guest cloakroom where a fantasy wall covering adds heavenly vibes.

The Narnia-esque ensuite bathroom(above) lies concealed behind a wall of wardrobe doors.

A deep ‘Soave’ bowl sitting on an Esperanto vanity in ‘Melanzana’ colour-way – from REXA Design – sits offset beneath a frameless circular mirror and a pair of industrial style Heavy Metal decorative pendants – with appropriately water-drop shaped bulbs.

Fluted ceramic effects in the shower add textural interest and tonally sympathetic colour connection with the vanity and concealed storage cupboard (just seen above the WC).

A crisp, clean, niche provides space for the soap. The showers throughout this home provide ‘rain’ style delivery. Matt black taps, controls, towel rail and Crittal style shower screen in this ensuite add geometric edge.

The family bathroom (above and below) features pink toned Zellige style tiling, with soft silver-grey contrasts in the form of a full width storage ‘niche’ created from a natural stone and the brushed nickel hardware of the elegantly slender shower-heads, spouts and controls.

In the downstairs cloakroom (below) REXA Design’s Soave bowl finds another space to call home – head in the clouds, ‘feet’ grounded on a solid walnut base. We find this smallest room in the house living it large amid a soothing swirl of ‘smoke’ and mirrors that gives a sense of volume to the space.

Decorative lighting is suspended from ‘on high’ by a ‘broken’ brass rod that connects it tonally with the brushed bronze finish of elegant ‘Squound’ shaped (squ[are]-[r]ound) water delivery controls and spout. It’s all so beautifully done, no wonder the Gluggling fish appears to be singing!
