This family kitchen features a modular kitchen from our DAY collection, with a walk-in pantry.
This family kitchen features a modular kitchen from our DAY collection, with a walk-in pantry.
This space was designed for a family as a social environment. The central island is designed as a space for friends and family to gather and the space is filled with accessible storage – both fixed and unfixed.
The hob and sink are positioned on a single run. The clients wanted us to know that they are proudly messy cooks – an important touch of honesty – and we’re fully on board with letting go of ideas of ‘perfect behaviour’ when we are at home. It was important for them to have clear workstations that didn’t necessarily incorporate the island – so that friends could gather around a clear space. Deep drawers below the units are dedicated to pots and pans, to keep these out of sight. The stone choice for work surface and splash-back is a Caesarstone ‘raw concrete’, a beautiful non-porous material with a smooth matte finish, that is both forgiving of the occasional missed fleck of flour and also super easy to clean and maintain – a perfect surface, in fact, for a keen – if occasionally messy – cook.
Looking towards the pantry – separated from the main room by a Crittal style glass window – the space here has been left open to the light to give the space a bigger feel. The tiles are bespoke cement tiles, in a colour combination inspired by artichokes combined with warm, rich inviting tones.
