Kitchen Renovation Timeline
Every kitchen renovation is a detailed individual process, and timescales will vary according to a variety of factors.
Our process is outlined below, with time frames specific to each stage, to give you an indication of a typical Day True Kitchen renovation timeline. This includes the design stage, production, and installation.
Please note: creating an accurate timetable requires a joint commitment to a schedule of milestones for design and decision making.

The Design Phase
Your Initial Design Meeting
Our aim at this meeting is to understand the space that we are working with and to take a brief from you regarding: who it will serve, your hopes for what we can achieve, and the ideas, preferences and routines that inform your wants, needs and desires.
We will usually start by looking at different ways of configuring the space – because laying out the space intelligently is crucial to making the space look good, feel right, and flow well.
What we need from you
- floorplans/existing layouts (these can be: estate agent sketches, architect drawings, or ‘back-of-an-envelope’ outlines – to include window and door placements, and basic dimensions*)
- photos and/or videos are helpful for an understanding of the existing space
- any shareable ideas (eg links to Pinterest boards)
- ideas of timescales and any planning hurdles, permissions, etc still needed
- an idea of your budget – this can be precise or best ‘guestimate’.
This is a detailed meeting that can last up to an hour. It’s helpful if you can send through any of the above information well in advance of the meeting. If you feel comfortable, include any ‘shelfies’ (photos) of contents of fridges, freezers, pantries, cupboards and drawers – to help all of us focus on existing inventory and storage requirements.
*if you don’t have floorplans and feel uncomfortable with a tape measure, please speak to the team directly for advice.
First design ideas and costings
Following this initial consultation, we will present some concept ideas for the space, and an outline quotation with a realistic costing for the project. We will present these to you at our next Design Meeting – this normally takes place within 7 to 10 days of an Initial Consultation.
Please note: The size of the space and level of detail may affect this timescale.
Presenting our first ideas to you
This presentation will include visuals and mood-boards – these are used to help illustrate and clarify ideas, colours, materials and textures. We hope by the end of this stage that we will have given you confidence in our ideas, abilities, and service. If you are happy with everything that we have presented, we will take a 10% deposit to mark our mutual commitment to the detailed design and supply service.
This meeting will take up to an hour.
Visiting the site
Following our presentation and your 10% deposit, we will normally arrange a full check-measure of the existing site before working on drawings to a fine-detail stage.
The detailed design phase
The detailed design phase is where we refine design ideas and drawings to a level of fine detail. Material, colour and product choices will also be finalised during this phase. Your designer will draw up a schedule for planning this stage with meetings, design time, and predicted milestones for completion.
The final design meeting
A final Design meeting is called once the design and the choices for it are ready to be finalised. A detailed specification of the order will be provided at this meeting. Once we have signed off the design and the product boards together, we will request the remaining balance for the deposit. This represents a total of 50% of the overall cost of the order (to include the 10% already paid).
As orders are placed and confirmed, a master contract is created, and logistics and installation are planned.
The design phase approximately takes 4-6 weeks. This is from the initial consultation to the final design.

We collaborate with you to create a kitchen that is individual to you.

The Production & Delivery Phase
Once the 50% deposit has been paid, we move into the production phase where your kitchen and appliances will be on order.
A Final Drawing Pack – including Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) drawings, fitters lists, design drawing, tile layouts (including grout thicknesses and colour) etc – will be provided in good time for installation purposes.
Please note: your M&E drawings are not needed for your contractor to quote for the work – they are for installation purposes.
Delivery will be arranged directly to you from our warehouse – where we consolidate orders as they come in. We co-ordinate, sequence, and communicate delivery schedules to you according to your programme for installation.
Receipt of delivery requires dedicated space on site for short-term storage and someone on site to receive the delivery – receipt is often handled by the contractor, who will be experienced in handling items in readiness for installation.
The Production Phase takes, on average, 6-8 weeks for modular systems, and 12-14 weeks for bespoke manufacture. Delivery will normally also be scheduled within these timescales.
The Installation Phase
Two weeks prior to your installation date, we kindly request that you pay the remaining balance in full.
Fitting kitchen furniture, and installing all other elements (including – as appropriate – floors, appliances, lighting, sinks, taps etc – but excluding work surfaces) involves different specialist trades for the different elements, and can take 2-3 weeks in total.
Work-surfaces and their cut outs – for hobs, sinks, taps etc – require millimetre technical accuracy and, for this reason, are not normally templated until the furniture is all fixed into place. Once templating has been completed, the fabrication of the worktop, on average, will take between 7 and 10 additional working days – to create and then install.
Once installation is complete, we will visit you on site to sign off and make sure that you are happy with everything.
If you have any further questions, we are available – by phone or email – to offer any assistance we can.
The Installation Phase normally takes 2-4 weeks.
